The report card is in and the Knights are ready for their review!
Coach Seth Stoltenberg knows improvement needs to come if his chargers are to nab the Phil Temperton Cup back off Nerang. Let's hear what the coach has to say about his side's growth in 2026.
GCDRU: If you had to give your season so far a report card grade, what would it be and why?
Seth Stoltenberg (SS): I'd probably give us a B+.
We've shown we're capable of playing some really good football and competing with the best sides, but we've also left a few opportunities out there.
The effort and commitment from the group has been great, and now it's about finding that consistency heading into the back end of the season.
GCDRU: What's been the standout performance or moment of your season to date and why?
SS: We recently hosted the Pat Brown Cup at The Castle against Nerang which coincided with our Multicultural Day, the way the players came together and brought in dishes from their culture and everyone hung around at the club afterwards.
It was great to see everyone connecting and representing where they came from.
A very special moment to be a part of this season.
GCDRU: Where has the biggest improvement in your side come from since the start of the season?
SS: We've had quite a few injuries throughout the first half of the year and we have worked hard on building depth within the club throughout the season.
Everyone who has been given an opportunity in First Grade has really grabbed it with both hands. It's also great to see once players have been given the opportunity, if they head back down to Second Grade, they're taking ownership of their game and pushing hard to get back into First Grade.
We'll continue to tinker and build combinations week in, week out as we push towards the back end of the season.
GCDRU: What's the one area your side needs to tighten up in these last few rounds?
SS: We just need to be more consistent as a team each week.
When we're at our best, we have the ability to compete with all teams in the competition, so it's just about making sure we turn up ready to play each week which allows us to then get our game on.
GCDRU: Which of your player/s do you think will be most influential in the run home to finals and why?
SS: I'd say Junior Foaitua and Tyler Maxwell.
Junior is a very hard-working player who really leads, by example, each week and always has a team first mentality.
Tyler is one of our game drivers who gets us around the park; he's been improving each week, and it's great to see his confidence and leadership building.
