The Eagles are eyeing off a finals appearance in the 2026 Phil Temperton Cup, but know that any slip up in the run home could cost them dearly.

Senior Coach Grant Steffek has handed in his report card on how his men are handling the season.

GCDRU: If you had to give your season so far a report card grade, what would it be and why?

Grant: "Young Master Eagles displays little to no attention in English and Mathematics, and a recent threat of the cane has done little to improve behaviour in Science. Assignments are regularly late for Social Studies, however he has great interest in PE and certainly enjoys achieving, and his Latin has improved steadily throughout the year - per angusta ad augusta."

GCDRU: Very scholarly! What's been the standout performance or moment of your season to date and why?

Grant: Definitely our Boat Race against Griffith Uni Knights on 20 June - a 2 second chug followed by a 3 second gulp with another 3 second anchor had us a clear man ahead at the finish line!

We completely obliterated the Knights in what was a total club performance, with both 2XV and 1XV contributing to the victory.

GCDRU: Bottoms up! Where has the biggest improvement in your side come from since the start of the season?

Grant: We have certainly been studying the law book and we are proud to say we have 15 additional referees on pitch - in both 1XV and 2XV - to help ensure the referee feels supported.

GCDRU: What's the one area your side needs to tighten up in these last few rounds?

Grant: Without any nudging, the players are leading the tightening... of their wallets.

Our coaches are now expected to fund 1-2-3 rounds each post-match.

GCDRU: Which of your players do you think will be most influential in the run home to finals and why?

Grant: All players are influential in their own way, and in many different ways, right across the 1XV and 2XV squad - the squad is reliant on and positively influences itself, and this won't change through to the end of the season.
