Gold Coast District Rugby Union is pleased to announce the appointment of Steven McIntyre to the GCDRU Board, bringing decades of rugby experience and a strong business background to support the organisation's growth.

McIntyre's rugby journey spans decades, covering roles as a player, coach, and committee member. His deep immersion in rugby culture across multiple clubs provided him with a comprehensive understanding of the game at all levels.

When McIntyre relocated to the Gold Coast, his children reignited his passion for the game through Palm Beach Currumbin Alleygators. He quickly became an integral part of the club, coaching junior teams, returning to play seniors, and later guiding several Junior Cyclones representative teams.

"Rugby has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember," McIntyre explained.

"I joined the GCDRU Board to continue promoting what I believe is one of the greatest sports in the world - a game that offers opportunities at local and international levels like few others."

McIntyre's extensive committee experience at both club and district levels provides him with valuable insight into rugby's grassroots foundations. His appointment to the Board comes at a crucial time as GCDRU prepares for significant growth opportunities, including the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia and the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

With a particular focus on sponsorship and partnerships, McIntyre aims to leverage his business background to strengthen GCDRU's financial sustainability and create robust support structures for the organisation.

"I want to help shape a strong, sustainable rugby landscape on the Gold Coast," McIntyre stated.

"By implementing effective structures, processes, and networks, we can ensure the game is well-supported and financially secure for generations to come."

The GCDRU Board welcomes Steven McIntyre and looks forward to his contributions to Gold Coast rugby's bright future.
