Welcome To 2014

GOLD COAST & DISTRICT RUGBY UNION ON THE CHARGE

Another season is underway with exciting developments promising a new era in Gold Coast Rugby!  Firstly, we congratulate Coomera Crushers and Tweed Barbarians on making the leap into Senior 1st and 2nd Grades.  We welcome them to the top grades and wish them well as they meet their new challenges.

Secondly we are excited by the increasing participation of our city’s universities.  We particularly congratulate Bond University Rugby on their acceptance into the Brisbane Premier competition and look forward to Bond growing as a force in our region.  Also, the involvement of Griffith University in the world of Sevens, and the relationship established by Southern Cross University with the Palm Beach-Currumbin Alleygators can only be good for local Rugby.

Juniors - To enhance Junior Rugby, two competitions for Under 12-17 Juniors have been scheduled to take place April 26th-June 21st and July 19th – September 20th . There will be a single Under 6-11 season running April 26th – September 13th .

State Champs - Stand by for the 2014 QJRU State Championships!  We have been chosen to host well over 1,000 players and officials at this major event July 4th -6th .  This will be wonderful a opportunity for Rugby supporters to witness a great spectacle – or to take part as a volunteer!

Club Sign-Ons are underway and several Clubs have reported increased numbers. Overall registrations are still on the up as clubs continue to add names to MyRugbyAdmin. A reminder to club management - please don't forget to have ALL players registered on MRA before the season gets under way.

To all of the Mums and Dads joining the Rugby community in 2014, I'd like to welcome you on behalf of the Gold Coast & District Rugby Union. We trust that you and your youngsters will enjoy your Rugby in 2014. Rugby provides a lifelong connection formed both on and off the field of play with friendships lasting many years. If you have any questions, be sure to consult your Club Committee or
contact us on this website.

Because we are on the border, training during Daylight Saving Time is Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5.30 pm (QLD time) and reverts to 6.00 pm when Daylight Saving Time finishes.

As always there are plenty of things to do in running a rugby club on and off the field. We are a non-profit club with everyone involved volunteering their time so anyone willing to help is most welcome to join the Baa Baa family.
