Welcome To 2013
WE ARE THE GOLD COAST & DISTRICT RUGBY UNION AGAIN!
We have gone back to a traditional name but we are looking forward to a new and exciting season.
Tamborine Mountain have joined as a new Club to bring community club numbers up to 14, while Breakers have re-located to Bond University. Arrangements with Bond promise over the long term to add a new dimension to Rugby in our region.
Club Sign-Ons are underway. Several Clubs have reported better than expected interest so, who knows, we may beat last year’s records – watch thus space! Overall player numbers are still on the up as clubs continue to add names to MyRugbyAdmin. A reminder to club management, don't forget to have ALL players registered on MRA before the season gets under way.
To all of the Mums and Dads joining the Rugby community in 2013, I'd like to welcome you on behalf of the Gold Coast & District Rugby Union. We trust that you and your youngsters will enjoy your Rugby in 2013. Rugby provides a lifelong connection formed both on and off the field of play with friendships lasting many years. If you have any questions, be sure to consult your Club Committee or contact us on this website
As part a national review of the governance of Junior Rugby, I have allocated the highest priority to a complete examination of Youth Rugby in our region. My aim is to do more for young players whether they play in Club or School competitions. I am particularly keen to look after young people at schools that don’t play Rugby and those in communities that do not have a Rugby tradition.
This month we welcome back Heath Claydon as Rugby Manager while Ralf de la Mare and David Tranter continue their good work alongside a new Development Officer being provided very soon by the Queensland Rugby Union. Thank you QRU!
